BTW/FWIW There *might* be Rx help on the way. Gerald Shulman (the person who figured out the cellular mechanism of IR in striated muscle) let drop in a podcast conversation with Peter Attia that he was working in collaboration with a 'startup pharmaceutical company'* on a version of DNT (dinitrotolulene) that would act on hepatic cells only. DNT has the distinction of being the first drug taken off OTC status by a newly-established FDA. It acts by making mitochondria less efficient, excess energy lost as heat; as you might imagine people taking it as an OTC who got themselves into trouble did so via taking too much and so hyperthermia. Personally, I don't understand why it's not used as an Rx now for people with fatty liver (associated with alcohol or not).
