What Biden had (and has) going for him is that he understands that he doesn't know - so he brings in experts in whatever field necessary. And I've read that he can run a good meeting (not surprising, given all his years in government).

IMO we don't need a scientist running the government, we just need one capable of understanding situations when they're needed, handing them the reins and letting them do their jobs.

After reading Barry's 'The Great Influenza', I had high hopes for the CDC. But they've turned from whatever they were back then into a primarily academic institution. Color me deeply disappointed.
