As someone interested in making sure that anyone elected to national office has a reasonable grip on reality, this is a good sign.
If you look at the relative sizes of party affiliations, the Republicans are in a distinct minority. They need rightward-leaning non-affiliated voters to vote R to get anywhere. At this point, it's more like they're trying to get them to vote Q.
I suspect Trumps motives are twofold here. 1) force himself into the 'attention economy', and 2) continue the scam he's been running on his most gullible followers ("donate now to help us reinstate the rightful President" - with a hard-to-find already checked box that turns whatever they give into a recurring monthly donation).
There's also the possibility that he may have lost it. What happens to a narcissist when the attention goes away?
