Anecdata from someone with a near death experience:

I was a kid in analyphactic shock (yellow jacket stings) it was just everything going black, and a bit later opening my eyes to my pediatrician and my mom looking at me with deep concern (panic?) in their eyes. Apparently the doctor had injected epinephrine in to my heart to restart it. Maybe I wasn’t near enough dead for any experience like other people report. Decades later, I ran across the writings of Epicurus, and his (paraphrasing here) “why are we afraid of death? It’s just like before you were born.” rang pretty true.
