Agreed that there are a lot of 'economy model' DSLRs out there, but the author mentions the D750 which is very much not the bottom of the Nikon lineup. No IBIS, but very good dynamic range and low light performance. Lots of re-mapable external buttons and knobs so little/no menu diving needed once it's set up - and two save-able / recall-able full sets of settings right on the top left knob, plus 'waiter mode' which their full on 'pro' cameras don't have.
