Agreed on discovery, hashtags and local rules.

If you can't find a server with an interest that matches your own, you might consider spinning up your own instance. It looks pretty easy (dead simple if you're going to use Digital Ocean). I'd probably go the Docker route. Your own instance gives you control of local rules.

For many of us, the point of any social media is simply keeping in touch with friends and family. Hashtags and algorithms tuned by someone else are not a feature.
