About the only exercise I've done that worked (I'd say 'lowered my weight' but muscles are heavier than fat) is distance swimming. As in around 10mi / week. my pattern was as follows: skip breakfast, or just coffee with a bit of honey, get into the water around 1:00, swim until I started getting cold, eat the rest of the day (gorge like a teen, really - had one young lady ask me "how do you *do* that?" when I was on my third piece of cake at a bday party).
The routine was over for me when I was 64, got a brain infection from a routine dental cleaning. Had to re-learn walking. I still *can* swim, but I have time issues now (and I'm still working on regaining the 60lbs of muscle mass I lost in the hospital) Agreed that learning to 'eat less' is very hard
Note that this is just 'anecdata' - a single data point. But it *might* work for someone else. If you're already swimming, try going as far as you can, for several days in a row. Feel any difference?
